The seven: Comfort foods
August 17, 2007

My seven favourite comfort foods
- Grilled cheese with ketchup. Makes me think of growing up when my mum would cook us lunch. She has a way with the frying pan that is for sure.
- Kraft dinner. There were many years that I lived on the stuff and there was nothing more enjoyable than sharing a box of KD with Kev when we lived together in London.
- Mashed tators. Nothing like mashed potatoes with whatever meal to make it feel like home. Lots of pepper and maybe a little ketchup.
- Chips. Okay not the healthiest (like any of them are) but I have been known to eat a bag of chips and call it dinner. Not so much now I am with Katie but back in the old days for sure.
- Chicken fingers. You know the frozen kind that take 20 minutes and taste so good. Add some ketchup, hot sauce and some blue cheese dip and that is what I call comfort.
- Cereal. I used to eat cereal a lot more at various times of the day. I am sure Mum remembers when my lunch or dinner would consist of three bowls of Rice Krispies.
- Tea. Okay it is not a food technically but anyone who knows me knows I live on the stuff. It is my life blood and half the time I make it out of habit even if I don’t want it. It is what the Cusden’s do, we put the kettle on.
